Verge748 is a weekly worship gathering held on Saturday evenings in a coffeehouse atmosphere. It’s intended to be an alternative worship and fellowship experience to the Sunday morning services. We strive to make it a place for a diverse, dynamic mix of college students and 20 'n 30 somethings to explore and connect with God in a shame-free atmosphere. Our Verge praise band leads us in worship with a rich and full range of music, from classic hymns to contemporary tunes. An appreciated part of each get together is Pastor Alan Wright’s messages, as well as the open arms and ears of the staff and volunteers to help any new persons feel welcome. |

How did Verge 748 get started?
Pastor Alan and Anne Wright led a home group for young adults 2003-2004. The group, known as the TNT's, met every other Friday night at their home in Winston-Salem. The Lord continued to fill Pastor Alan's heart with love for the emerging generation. The burden grew into a desire to reach today's culture in a larger way through a Saturday night coffee house and worship venue. Pastor Alan shared his dream with the church leaders and with the congregation. A team was developed in early 2004 to seek God's direction for a new ministry they called Verge748. Pastor Alan taught a series of messages on Wednesday nights about the Emerging Culture and how the message of the gospel is relevant to this generation. With the church leadership's blessing, the original Chapel at Reynolda was renovated and upfitted with a state of the art coffee bar. An extensive advertising campaign let the community know about the exciting new ministry. A new band was formed and new leadership emerged that prepared the community and the church for an exciting launch of Verge748 in October 2004.
